Montclair Facility
NECHN trains its participants and prepares them for competitive employment opportunities in the corporate, health, and business sectors. NECHN graduates are now successfully employed as word processors, home health aides, stock clerks, food service workers, packagers, and maintenance workers, along with many other occupations. To date, more than two hundred companies in Northern New Jersey have hired NECHN graduates, including A&P, Garden State Parkway, Girl Scouts of America, Helping Hands Health Care, Kings Supermarkets, New Jersey Devils, Shop-Rite, UPS and Sony.
Most participants are referred to NECHN by other organizations involved in rehabilitation and social welfare, including the New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities, local school systems, the Veteran's Administration, private rehabilitiation agencies, insurance companies, the Social Security Administration and the Commission for the Blind and Visually impaired.
In order to be accepted into NECHN's program, individuals must:- Have a physical, cognitive, emotional or vocational impairment
- Be 16 years of age or older
(full time school students may be 14 or older) - Be able to provide own mode of transportation
- Be independent in taking care of their personal needs and taking their own medication
